Watch the above video or follow these steps to locate and check out a physical book from OSU Libraries. The video will not load unless you're logged into Canvas with your ONID. This is a known issue that we are working to fix.

Enter your topic or the book's title in the 1Search search box and click "Search". Use "quotes" around the title for the best results.
Now it's time to refine your search. On the first page of results, select which locations are OK to search. Click the magnifying glass icon to refine your search.
- Select "At OSU Libraries only" to search the whole OSU Libraries collection. This includes libraries in Bend and Newport.
- Select "OSU Libraries + Summit" to add items at other libraries in the Pacific Northwest.

You can also use the facets on the right-hand side of the page to refine your search. Choose "print books" to limit your search to physical books.

Resource Type

If the print book is not available at the OSU Libraries, you can generally request its delivery through interlibrary loan (ILL) or Summit. Summit is a resource-sharing service for libraries in the Pacific Northwest. You can request Summit materials through 1Search and have them delivered to the Valley Library, Tykeson Hall in Bend, or the Guin Library in Newport. The process is described in more detail later in this module.
Take a photo of the call number or write it down so you can locate the book on the shelf.
Check out the book at the circulation desk using your OSU ID.
